Royal Marines Football L= egend WO2 Ian Pomeroy

O= n the 9^th March WO2 Ian Pomeroy will say goodbye to Corps after 23 years Service, Pom= or Swampy to his mates was RMFA player of the year in 2001 and 2002 and is the only player to win the award twice. He made his debut in 1986 against RAF Strike Command at CTCRM and made his last appearance against Cullompton Ran= gers on the 28^th November 2005 again at CTCRM. The RMFA wish Pom and = his family all the best for his second career and thank him for his service to Royal Marines Football.<= span lang=3DEN-GB style=3D'font-size:14.0pt;mso-ansi-language:EN-GB'>=

Royal Marines Vets game = Saturday 17^th March 2007

T= he Royal Marines Vets team will play Exmouth Vets on the 17^th March at CT= CRM 1415 Kick off. The game as been arranged in addition to the annual vet̵= 7;s game held during the Tunney Cup. The game is to celebrate the 50^{th Birthday
of former Corps player Andy “Arry” Holding aka Horsebox. A full

Royal Marines FA v Lloyd= s of London 21^{st<=
/sup> March
2007}

T= he RMFA will play Lloyds of London on the 21^st March at CTCRM Kick off 1= 400hrs in the annual fixture between the two clubs. The squad will meet the day be= fore on Tuesday 20^th for training. Last year’s fixture away at Beckenham road London produced an evenly m= atched 1-1 draw and a top run ashore in London.

Navy Cup 2006/7

T= he only remaining bootneck team left in the Navy Cup Fleet Protection Group Royal Marines have made the final of the after beating one of the favourites HMS Collingwood, under the leadership of the player manager CSgt Sean Welburn t= hey came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 and will now play the winners of HMS Dra= ke & HMS Heron on the 28^th March at Victory stadium HMS Temerai= re Portsmouth 1500hrs Kick off, the RMFA wish them well in retaining the Cup for the Royal marines. All supporters are Welcome & encouraged to attend.<= /span>

Cyprus Tour 2007

T= he 2007 tour to Cyprus as gathered momentum with a recce booked for early May and tour dates being= set for the 24^th July - 4^th August. The opposition = will once again be the Army Cyprus, RAF Cyprus & the Combined Ser= vices Cyprus and our base for the tour will be Dhekelia Garrison.

CTCRM top field developm= ent progress

T= he top field development took a major knock back when plans for floodlights on the number one grass pitch were shelved, and instead plans for a second floodli= t Astroturf pitch were deemed to be more cost effective (It can easily be rented out to Civilian bodies & the military lose out as usual). So this means we (RM= FA) will carry on paying money to Civilian clubs for use of their Pitch, facili= ties & floodlights, Winner!

Royal Marines v Parachute regiment 23^rd May 2007

T= he RMFA will play the Parachute Regiment on the 23^rd May 2007 at Exeter Chiefs Sandy Park Rugby Union Ground 1945 Kick Off. More information on the whole evening’s events will be published nearer the date.<= /span>

Goalkeeper double troubl= e

Goalkeeper Kev Readings = broke his hand playing for Tive= rton Town in the British= Gas Southern League and will be out for 2 months.

T= he MOD are fighting a case for Goalkeeper Tony Whitehead following his Challenge on a Cullompton Rangers forward duri= ng the RMFA fixture on 28^th November 2006.
